Peninsula Group signs the Armed Forces Covenant
Manchester, England – Peninsula Group has pledged to support veterans, serving members of the reserve forces, and military families by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. The Group, whose UK companies include Peninsula Business Services, BrightHR, Health Assured, Croner, and Croner-i, has pledged to be an Armed Forces-friendly provider.
The signing ceremony was attended by Sharman Birtles, His Majesty’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, who joined Peninsula Group and Ministry of Defence representatives to formalise the pledge.
The covenant was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Richard Jones and Peninsula Group Chief Financial Officer Jordan Foster.
Mr Foster said, “We recognise the value that veterans, serving members of the military and their families contribute to our country and to our business, both directly and indirectly.
“Whilst there are likely to be more, we know of at least 41 veterans who are employed across our companies, 3 active reservists and a further 47 employees whose loved ones are serving our country across all branches of the Armed Forces.
“Those who serve and have served in our Armed Forces epitomise many of the values we at Peninsula Group hold dear, values that continually shape our culture. Today we are making an official commitment to being an Armed Forces-friendly organisation.
“We’re committed to providing meaningful career pathways for veterans and service leavers as they transition into civilian life, recognising the unique skills and discipline they have developed and honed during their military careers. I would encourage other businesses to join us in this commitment.”
The Peninsula Group has committed to: • Offering work placements, insight days, mentoring schemes and/or guaranteed interview schemes to veterans seeking employment • Providing flexibility in granting leave for service spouses and partners before, during and after deployment • Engaging with the Career Transition Partnership to support service leaders with advice and support • Granting additional unpaid leave for annual Reserve Forces training and to support any mobilisations or deployment • Continuing to support national events such as Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Day
